+> A-TeAM O.A.K. CAMP <+

DaTe : 12th june 09' - 14th june 09'

veNue : school compound

I attended A-tEAM annual camp right on the day whereby my test break begun.

1st day

The camp started with some briefings on the rules and regulations throughout the camp to ensure discipline and security throughout the whole camp period. Next, ice-breaking games e.g. M&M game and TURN ON game were carried out to enable all campers to get to know each other better and to create better bonding among all campers. There are 5 groups altogether, GREEN, WHITE, YELLOW, BLUE & RED group.
My group was the WHITE group with the name "THOR". Name chosen by our facilitators. =)
My group consisted of about 15 people on the first day and all of us were from different schools, and thus i got to know more new people.
We were to create our own group cheer and flag in about half an hour time limit given. Although the time seem to be insufficient, however we manage to create a short n mad cheer.. hahahhaa..Not forgetting, there was this MASS DANCE choreographed by the camp facilitators using JAIHO song.. It was fun and interesting though dancing some funny steps.. lol
We were also asked to choose a group leader to lead us in a night station game. The game was really fun as we were to run around the school at night to solve clues and to find stations to complete task assigned to us in every station. and WOW!.. my group won this game.. CHEERS for my group ^.^ However, our flag was confiscated as we did not hold on to our flag throughout the game.. Our points got deducted n yea... we learnt our lesson.. hahahhaa.. Lights off by 1230.. But me n few of my new friends sneak out of the room and we chit chatted till about 3 a.m.

2nd day

The day begun with some morning exercise.. 'CAPTAIN BALL'. The balls were made up of newspapers wrapped in plastic bags..lol. All groups took turn to play. It was a funny game as practically everyone played real rough.. snatching the balls n tearing the plastic bags.. In the end, the facillitators got to end the game as all the balls were 'torn'.hahahha..
Had our breakfast and next thing.. we continue with games session. We played a FLAG GAME n MASS RELAY.. Had so much fun although my group did not win=)
Anywayz, winning every game is not the main thing as long as we had fun and we get to know our group members even better.. And most importantly, we learnt team building skills as each game require us to plan strategies..
Next thing on our schedule was event management talk by our own president, Itin Octavia. We got back into our own buddy groups and we were to choose a type of event that we were to organise in future. One of my buddy group friend represented our group to choose an event and she got INTERNAL EVENT, which means we are to organise an event within our A-Team to create better bonding among the members. I was elected to become the group leader to organise the internal event.. We're working on the event as it will be held in around the month of August..
Then, we played a 'STICKY THOUGHT' game.. it was something really creative as every individual will be sticking a large cardboard on their backs and anybody can stick a small notepad giving positive comments on any particular person =]
Night time was the performance night.. I did not attend the performance night as i had some family matter to attend to=(

3rd day

Last day of O.A.K camp.. I came back to report to my facilitator on 0800. I joined my group in the morning game that is 'Musical Chair'. We then had our breakfast and we proceeded with sub-group talks. I joined the EMCEE TEAM (E.T) sub-group led by Sean Lai, one of the exco of A-Team. We were to split ourselves into groups consist of 7 people per group. Then, we were to choose a topic to present during general meetings. My group was chosen to present first on topic "O.A.K. CAMP FEEDBACK". Slide shows and good public speaking is required to join this group. *more talking n +++ stress*
Before camp break, certificates and prizes giving ceremony was held.. and my team won the award "MOST ENTHUSIASTIC GROUP". Totally unexpected as my group consist of the least number of people and we weren't as spirited as other groups... Anywayz,, *CHEERS* for THOR ^.^

Here are some pictures of the camp :

Camp finally ended... HOME SWEET HOME soon. !!! yay=]

So what is the outcome of the camp i have attended??
  • I managed to get to know more new friends from other schools and thus, widen my group of friends in NYP.
  • I have improved my leadership skills through this camp as I was chosen to lead my group in certain games.
  • I have improved my communication skills by communicating with my group members and other members of A-Team from all walks of life.
  • I have learnt to tolerate with people of different attitudes as well as accept ideas suggested by my team mates.

Did I achieve my goal?

=> I would say that I did not manage to achieve my goal yet.

Why do i say so??

This is mainly because although I met many new people from the camp I have attended, I realised that we can only be friends for crapping and laughing as all of us have different personalities. I feel more comfortable chatting with my classmates. Thus, I think that I wont be able to achieve my goal by week 13. However, I'll try my very best as this is only week 9.

* will be going home today night... cant wait to meet my family back home.. miss them so so much..
Signing off - Nicole-
